From One Truck
to a Thriving Family Business
The Hoffman & Kuhn story began in 1954, when Bill Hoffman and his brother-in-law, John Kuhn, pooled funds to purchase a used tractor trailer. They leased that first truck to Helms Express, laying the foundation for what would become Hoffman & Kuhn, Inc.
The company incorporated in 1959, reinvesting its profits and growing to 35 vehicles on lease. In 1960, Bill Hoffman made leasing his full-time business and purchased John Kuhn’s share of the company. He kept the Hoffman & Kuhn name, and the business continued to grow.
Over the years, the company operated a variety of other businesses, including a tire distributorship and store, insurance agency, short-term rental fleet, pop-up camper sales and rentals, a small oil and gas operation, and vinyl graphic design and installation. Eventually, the company focused on the business that customers needed most: commercial vehicle leasing.
Bill’s son, Jeff Hoffman, joined the business full time in 1977 after several years working part time. Shannon Hoffman joined in 2014 after spending her summers with the family business throughout school.
The Hoffman family’s history remains an important part of how the company operates today. We pride ourselves on being available to our customers and providing fast, knowledgeable service.
